Upward Basketball and Cheerleading League
Upward is a Christian-based sports league whose mission is the introduce Jesus Christ by creating
opportunities to serve through sports. Upward promotes character and self-esteem. Participating in this league
will give your child a chance to experience good sportsmanship on and off the court and the opportunity to
develop new friendships.

We believe that every child is a winner. We invite all children from Kindergarten through 8th grade to
participate. The 2011-2012 cost is $50/child. A $10 late fee is added if you register after the open registration.
This includes the uniform, car magnet, end-of season award and for cheerleaders, the poms and megaphone
and matching hair ribbon. Financial assistance available upon request. Basketball shorts and cheerleader
mock turtlenecks are available for an additional $15.00 each.

Faith Lutheran partners with the other two Faith churches, Faith Baptist and Shiloh Reformed, to offer this

Open registration will take place from 6:00 pm until
8:00 pm on the following dates:
  • Tuesdays
  • October 11, 18 and 25
  • Thursdays
  • October 13, 20 and 27
  • There will be no Saturday registration.

Deadline to register is October 27, 2011.
 Evaluation and Orientation
  • Children ages K5 - 6th grade must attend one of
    the sessions with a parent or guardian.
  • The schedule is drop in.
  • Parents/guardians will receive an orientation,
    while the child performs a skills test and is sized
    for a uniform.
  • The amount of time will depend on the number of
    children waiting line to be evaluated.

  • Tickets available at any of the three Faith, NC
    churches.
  • Hot dog plates also available.

 Practice begins
  • Children are assigned to teams in a manner
    which promotes equal skill level across teams.
    Each team will meet on a designated night for
    practice.
  • Parents/guardians will be notified in advance of
    team and practice night.
  • Practices are held on wither Tuesday or
    Thursday night. Your child will be informed a
    week prior to practice as to what night they will
    practice on.
